1850s Daguerreotype Male Portrait Stunning Character with Molded Case !! Historical Antique Photography Gifts & Collectibles

The more of these Daguerreotypes I find the more trouble I have letting them go. This portrait is a one-of-a-kind captured moment of this mans life. The character in his face almost makes him a bit formiddable and intimidating. A man of consequence no doubt. The exposure is slight over exposed and it gives this portrait an almost ghostly quality to it. Of course the fact that this is likely over 170 years old so I imagine it just might be ghostly. 😊 Love these! The case measures 3 9/16" x 3 1/8" and looks to be a thermoplastic union made of wood fiber and shellac.

CONDITION: Over 170 years old in fair condition. The case is worn and broken (SEE PHOTOS). It's solid and houses the Daguerreotype nicely. There does seem to be some spotting and oxidation on both the frame and glass. The image is slightly over exposed and has splendid detail in the light.
